- What does the baby name popularity rank mean?
- For 2021 through 2024, rank 1 is the most given spelling of that sex in the US Social Security file, among names given at least five times. 2025 ranks are this site's top 1,000 lists. A rank inside that top 1,000 is still the national rank.
- How is the trend calculated?
- Rank change is the older rank minus the newer rank. A move toward rank 1 is rising. A small move is stable. A move away from rank 1 is falling. A name that appears in a later full file and was absent from the earlier one is a new entrant. Missing a 2025 top-1,000 rank is not treated as a drop.
- Can I compare the UK and the US?
- Only the United States has yearly ranks in this dataset. Other countries show whether our catalog records the spelling. The page does not invent a UK or Australian rank.
