Most popular baby names of 1935

In 1935, the most popular names for US babies were Robert for boys (56,525 babies, 5.4% of boys) and Mary for girls (55,074 babies, 5.3% of girls). The rest of the top five were James, John, William and Richard for boys and Shirley, Barbara, Betty and Patricia for girls. SSA recorded 4,145 different boy names and 4,893 different girl names that year.
