Most popular baby names of 1960

In 1960, the most popular names for US babies were David for boys (85,908 babies, 4.0% of boys) and Mary for girls (51,468 babies, 2.5% of girls). The rest of the top five were Michael, James, John and Robert for boys and Susan, Linda, Karen and Donna for girls. SSA recorded 4,598 different boy names and 7,329 different girl names that year.
