Most popular baby names of 1968

In 1968, the most popular names for US babies were Michael for boys (81,974 babies, 4.7% of boys) and Lisa for girls (49,533 babies, 3.0% of girls). The rest of the top five were David, John, James and Robert for boys and Michelle, Kimberly, Jennifer and Melissa for girls. SSA recorded 4,746 different boy names and 8,198 different girl names that year.
