Most popular baby names of 1920

In 1920, the most popular names for US babies were John for boys (56,913 babies, 5.3% of boys) and Mary for girls (70,983 babies, 5.9% of girls). The rest of the top five were William, Robert, James and Charles for boys and Dorothy, Helen, Margaret and Ruth for girls. SSA recorded 4,989 different boy names and 5,767 different girl names that year.
