Most popular baby names of 1919

In 1919, the most popular names for US babies were John for boys (53,523 babies, 5.5% of boys) and Mary for girls (65,836 babies, 5.8% of girls). The rest of the top five were William, James, Robert and Charles for boys and Helen, Dorothy, Margaret and Ruth for girls. SSA recorded 4,810 different boy names and 5,559 different girl names that year.
