Most popular baby names of 1984

In 1984, the most popular names for US babies were Michael for boys (67,741 babies, 3.8% of boys) and Jennifer for girls (50,563 babies, 3.0% of girls). The rest of the top five were Christopher, Matthew, Joshua and David for boys and Jessica, Ashley, Amanda and Sarah for girls. SSA recorded 7,339 different boy names and 12,181 different girl names that year.
