Most popular baby names of 1895

In 1895, the most popular names for US babies were John for boys (8,320 babies, 7.1% of boys) and Mary for girls (13,447 babies, 5.8% of girls). The rest of the top five were William, James, George and Charles for boys and Anna, Helen, Margaret and Elizabeth for girls. SSA recorded 1,241 different boy names and 1,808 different girl names that year.
