In 1995, the most popular names for US babies were Michael for boys (41,410 babies, 2.2% of boys) and Jessica for girls (27,939 babies, 1.6% of girls). The rest of the top five were Matthew, Christopher, Jacob and Joshua for boys and Ashley, Emily, Samantha and Sarah for girls. SSA recorded 10,330 different boy names and 15,753 different girl names that year.
